Michael Heinrich

Michael's experience spans from the financial services, management consulting, to technology industries. Michael has worked at Bridgewater Associates (portfolio construction & strategy), Bain & Company (management consultant), JP Morgan (Mergers and Acquisitions), SAP (project manager), and Microsoft (project manager). Michael regularly co-hosts Foundersround (invitation only entrepreneurship events) and advises The Startup Digest (weekly newsletter for entrepreneurs), among others. Outside of work, Michael practices Shao-lin Kung Fu and Transcendental Meditation. He has previously won a silver medal in Tai Chi, a Rosenberg poetry prize, and a Cisco Deloitte case competition. Michael speaks English, German, and some Russian and French.

Michael attended programs at Harvard, Stanford, and UC Berkeley (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa in Cognitive Science, Political Economy, and Business).

Jorge Ortiz

Jorge is a doctoral student in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. Jorge's main research areas are in wireless sensors networks, energy-efficient buildings, and distributed systems, where he has published various technical papers and talks. Prior to entering the Ph.D. program he spent over 3 years working at Oracle Corporation as a software engineer in the Enterprise applications division. Jorge is an avid sports fan and spends much of his free time watching the New York Yankees. He particularly enjoys the statistical aspects of baseball and likes to analyze the performance of his favorite players using sabermetrics.

Jorge holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Joel Weinberger

Joel is a doctoral student in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research is in computer security, with a focus on Web application security and Web browser security. Prior to entering the Berkeley graduate program, he was a software engineer with Sun Microsystems working on Solaris and network attached storage technology. Outside of work, Joel enjoys a number of activities. He spends a good deal of time running, rock climbing, biking, and skiing. He's also a long time tap dancer. Recently, he's been studying modern Hebrew.

Joel holds a B.S. magna cum laude in History and Computer Science as well as a M.S. in Computer Science from Brown University. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Currently he is a Ph.D. candidate at University of California, Berkeley.

Jonathan Chang

Jonathan started his entrepreneurial career in college. His first company was in the computer games industry. Five years after the initial start, he sold to the company to its largest competitor. After a brief stint in the corporate world, Jonathan moved to Manhattan and co-founded another startup, creating an online platform for local service providers. Outside of work, Jonathan mentors aspiring entrepreneurs at various non-profit organizations. Jonathan has taught entrepreneurship and leadership courses at an academy in Rwanda and at Columbia University. He has traveled across five continents and hopes to visit Antarctica in a near future. He is fluent in English, Malay, Indonesian, and speaks Chinese.

Jonathan earned his Bachelors degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his Masters degree from Columbia University where he was a Graduate Fellow at the Earth Institute.
